Well, we knew it had to happen sooner or later and last night it finally happened -  the longest Lakers winning streak in five years ended at 10 games.  For the second time this week, I didn’t get to catch any of the live action other than on my cellphone (I was at the Stornetta’s playing Texas Hold ‘Em - for once I didn’t win).  The Lakers trailed through most of their game in Portland against the Trailblazers after taking an early 10 point lead in the first quarter.  Sasha Vujacic made a couple of 3-pointers to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but after the latter trey tied it at 107, the Blazers went on an 8-0 run to close things out.  Final: Portland 119, Lakers 111.  The Lakers really didn’t play a bad game, shooting 49% and committing only 12 turnovers.  What truly won the game for Portland was their 53% shot-making (including 9-for-19 from distance) and committing only six turnovers.  To beat the Lakers these days (even at home), you need to play an almost perfect game - precisely what Portland did last night.

The Lakers look to start a new winning streak tomorrow afternoon as they take on the Dallas Mavericks at the Staples Center at 3:30 ET/12:30 PT.
